Fleshtones, Lyres, Prime Movers... yee yee

Friday night Heidi and I left the water rising in our basement to head down the Pike to catch a great garage rock line-up. The Fleshtones, Lyres, and Prime Movers. Reminds me how much fun it is (and rare) to go to a show where all the bands on the bill rock. Usually when I go out I find myself twiddling my thumbs or making snide comments about at least one of the bands on the bill. I guess it's part of aging that I become more curmudgeonly and less tolerant of crap as time stumbles forward. Anyhow enough bitching, because there was absolutely nothing to bitch at at this show, it was as they say "all killa, no filla".... Here are a couple pictures and video. As always the audio of the recording doesn't do any of the bands justice, but maybe it gives you an idea of how much fun it was.

Pre Valentines Day Romanticism

Well it snowed last night and torrents of rain are now falling, not exactly romantic, but certainly craptastic in the weather department. However I am hear to guide you so all hope is not lost. Mosey on down to Tammany Hall on Pleasant St. in Worcester for a great punk line up. Yeah I know for the last several years the Tammany Hall as been the exclusive haunt of the Patchouli and jam band set, but alas now songs shorter than 14 minutes are once again heard within the walls. Nothing says romantic like The Pathetics song of the longings of the heart "Porno Picnic Basket". $5 cheap, 18 plus... 8PM... Here is the full lineup

Boppin' around Kelley Square

Saturday Night the Mrs. and I first headed out through the snow to The Greyhound Pub (which is only marginally larger than our living room) and caught a rare reunion of a band I used to see alot back in the early mid 90s. Sheez Late gave a great set, and hopefully they will not wait 14 odd years before doing it again.

Next it was time to take our lives in our hands and run across Kelley Square in the snow to The Vernon Hotel where Guns of Navarone were playing. I had not seen these guys before but they had for a while been on my short list of bands to see. Fret not if you missed them at The Vernon as they are coming around to Worcester again this Saturday (2/16) to Ralph's Diner.

You can see more pictures and videos (all in wonderfull ready for youtube "crap-O-vision") for
Sheez Late here and Guns of Navarone here.
